Galaxy is the new generation, highly yielding, high quality, snow and frost tolerant Tetraploid Italian Ryegrass. Galaxy’s quality growth will produce high quality feed, and support high live weight gains. When rotationally grazed, Galaxy has lasted beyond 3 years, proving to be one of the most persistent Tetraploid Italian Ryegrasses in summer moist/irrigated areas of good fertility. It is recommended for fall seeded winter feed and spring hay/silage crops. Galaxy is also ideal for spring seeding in summer moist areas and adding to perennial mixtures due to its summer leafiness and fewer aftermath seedheads (once initial seedhead is removed Galaxy returns to leafy vegetative growth). Galaxy is further ideally suited to spring planting situations, because it will through only a minimal amount of seedheads over that first summer. Galaxy will perform well as the sole grass component of a pasture or in a mix. As a short term pasture Galaxy’s tetraploid feature results in increased preference and animal intake, and the maintenance of strong clover and forage herb production. Galaxy’s tetraploid characteristics will be further complemented when panted with a diploid such as Crusader.
High Forage yields particularly Spring, Summer and Fall
Increased leafiness throughout Summer producing highter quality pastures
High animal intake characteristics of a tetraploid
Produces fewer seedheads when Spring Planted
Improved tolerance to frost and snow conditions
Galaxy will successfully establish from spring, summer (ideally mild summer areas) and fall plantings into moist fertile soils. Galaxy is suited to most soil types and climatic conditions; production from Galaxy, as for all tetraploids, is maximized when planted into moist fertile soils.
