Henry Hard Fescue (Festuca Longifolia)
Hard fescue is a low maintenance cool season grass species often used when shade is an expected problem. This species is good as a non-mowed turf for slopes, median strips, and nonused areas of parks. Hard fescue has a low fertility requirement, has a high tolerance for drought, shade, and cold temperatures but is not tolerant of high summer temperatures.
Henry Hard Fescue is an aggressive grower, and the establishment of turf mixes are greatly enhanced by its addition. Henry was developed over a 10 year period by a repetitive process of mass selection, using all elite parental clones. It was bred for toughness, and low maintenance turf requirements.
Henry has strong resistance to major hard fescue diseases such a leaf spots and blotches, powdery mildew, red thread, dollar spot, and stem rust. It can be rlied on to provide years of high quality, disease free, and low maintenance turf.
